Description:
Quilters, sewers, crafters, and all creative individuals who want unique and interesting fabrics, this is the class for you. You create the design and choose the colors to make your fat quarters and limited edition yardage. Trade the finished fabrics with your friends and fellow artists. This class will give the student hands-on experience in the different methods and techniques of applying images, colorants, and other surface embellishments to fabric. The finished fabric and yardage can be incorporated into quilts, wearables, home furnishings such as pillows, wallhangings and other unique projects. Learn the basics of textile design and repeat patterns, experience the different methods of applying fabric dyes and textile paints including: block printing, stamping, handpainting, mono printing and silkscreen printing. Instructor Mary Urbas will share her 35 years of experience as an award winning, practicing fiber artist and former gallery owner. Supply list includes silkscreen, squeegee, dyes and miscellaneous materials = approximately $80 to be paid to instructor Students will supply natural fiber fabrics.
