Student Ages:
In this workshop we’ll be weaving a simple and elegant frame to show off a pair of beautiful stones. The weave we’ll be learning is a derivative of Bargello Needlepoint, called the Flame Stitch, which has been adapted to wire work. We’ll be working in soft copper, which is a beautiful metal that looks good on everyone. It is also soft and the easiest of the hands as we learn to weave. We’ll be working with smaller, oval stones for ease of learning but this method of weaving is very adaptive to different sizes and shapes of stones, as you can see in the picture to the left. The Flame stitch is a very useful technique to have in your repertoire of wire working skills.
